IMC Weekendschool

The IMC Weekendschool is a charity dedicated to enhancing opportunities for children from underprivileged neighborhoods in Dutch cities. Every Sunday, 900 children are introduced to possibilities they would otherwise find difficult to access, while gaining self-confidence and a sense of connectedness to society.

The three-year curriculum comprises disciplines such as medicine, law, computer studies, philosophy, poetry, maths, astronomy and visual arts. Pupils also receive instruction in topics such as public speaking, research and debate, and are encouraged to organize guest lectures themselves on topics of their own interest.

Successful attendance at the Weekendschool leads to a diploma. There is a follow-up trajectory for alumni aged 14-18 that includes assistance in arranging apprenticeships.

The Weekendschool is funded by IMC together with sponsors such as Nationale Postcode Lotterij, Essent, VSBfonds, IBM, Delta Lloyd Group Foundation and Rabobank.
